When it opened in 1907 it was the largest and branded train station in the world. Modeled in the monumental Beaux Arts style after the ancient roman Baths of Caraculla and Diocletian and the triumphal Arch of Rome. This fabulous structure has recently been renovated. Today it houses lots of shops, restaurants, cafes, it is a very trendy urban center nowdays, more than just a simple train station.
There are also statues of roman legionaires looking over the station.
They were designed by the great Chicago architect Daniel Burnham, whose moto was: Make no little plans.
